A poetic conjunction of events celebrates Valentines Day and Tibetan/Chinese New Year ushering in the year of the Metal Tiger. Those in the know describe this Tiger time as a mood swinging, vigorous and hard-working year.
Tiger time is passionate, honest, modest and naturally forgiving. Rarely holding grudges for long, it symbolizes eternal family values of friendship, support and care.
2010 is predicted to be a tumultuous year, but the Tiger's influence offers us courage, while inviting bold actions and risk taking. The Metal element can provide steely resolve, fortitude and determination to accomplish goals.
The tiger is one of the most dynamic and powerful signs. Its nature is unpredictable, courageous, and explosive. Cultivate the flexibility to adapt to changes and keep a steady hand on the keel through these rough waters. Use this time as an opportunity to shape your life, like sculpting a beautiful and useful object out of raw materials.
Ride the tiger triumphantly towards your goals so that you can manifest balance, wellness and fulfillment in 2010.
Use this forceful and vigorous Tiger year to inject new life and vitality into your life. Be ready to consider change with the introduction of bold and perhaps controversial ideas.
The fiery heat of this Tiger year will touch everyone's life. Just as intense heat is necessary to extract precious metals from their ores, so the Tiger year can bring out the best in us.
May you live long, live strong, and live happy!
Famous Tigers:
Sun Yat Sen, Queen Elizabeth II, Emily Dickinson, Isadora Duncan, Dwight D. Eisenhower, Marilyn Monroe, Marco Polo, Beatrix Potter, Karl Marx, Ludwig van Beethoven
Another interesting conjunction this year for Hawaii is the anniversary of Lama Tenzin’s death on 13 February 2001.
Lama wrote a prayer for Losar before he died. If anything will carry us through this Tiger year it is these sentiments…..
"With thoughts of all that is good
May this time of year
Bring you inspiration and wishing prayers
that all beings will be at peace.
May you help the thought of Bodhicitta to increase
and virtue to spread throughout countless universes.
Know the worth of your precious human life
and rest in continuous stability of mind
Preparing benefit for all lifetimes to come.
Dismiss all fears of this life,
Death and the bardo
Dismiss all fears."
The Venerable Lama Tenzin (1938-2001)
